About the Organizers

This project is a collaboration between a Singapore training company (The Little Entrepreneur Pte Ltd (TLE) and a Philippine micro-financing company, Center for Community Transformation, Inc. (CCT).
The cross-cultural ties between the two companies are unique and important because it combines technical expertise with on-the-ground experience. More often than not, such social projects are insular in nature, focusing on the immediate community as the market. Through this collaboration, the market is broadened for both countries in areas each is best in. One to provide the expertise in planning, training & infrastructure while the other in implementation & long-term development.
Secondly, the use of solar energy is still in its nascent stages. What better way to rally the general population to energy-consciousness than by making it available to those that need it the most. So instead of being a far-fetched, only for the rich proposition due to the high cost of photo-voltaic cells, this project will jumpstart the imagination of the public as to the true potential in harnessing the sun’s power.
Lastly, no project of this scale in the area of renewable energy and micro-entrepreneurship has ever been considered, much less implemented. Usually, the proposition involves one entrepreneur at a time or one center at a time. With CCT’s current membership of 125,000 Filipinos all across the Philippine Islands, the reach and impact can be enormous and far-reaching.
